Industrial nature is a concept that has its roots in the Ruhr Valley in Germany and one of the most prominent examples is the Emscher Park, or to be more precise, Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord in Dusiburg-Meiderich. It is an old coal- and steel-plant that has been closed in 1985 and converted to a public park that combines nature and industrial past. I need to go back there at night as it is wonderfully illuminated.
